AIF-C01 Practice Question 5: Agentic AI Tool Use
AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) · Test 1 · question 5 of 10
A travel company's chatbot answers questions well, but it can't act on them. When a customer says "rebook me on the next flight and email me the new itinerary", it only explains how to do this manually. The company wants the assistant to check availability, change the booking, and send the email by itself. Which capability is the chatbot missing?

Answer:
A standard LLM chatbot only generates text. An AI agent uses the model to reason about a goal, break it into steps, and call tools, such as a flight-availability API, a booking system, or an email service, to perform those steps. It can also keep memory of what it has done. That's the difference between explaining a rebooking and completing one (option B). On AWS, this is what agent services in Amazon Bedrock are built for.
- A is wrong because a larger context window lets the model read more text at once, but it still can't call a booking system. - C is wrong because temperature changes how random the wording is, not whether the model can take actions. - D is wrong because fine-tuning would improve the *explanation*, and the customer still wouldn't be rebooked. Only tool use and orchestration add the ability to act.
