Microsoft Azure
5 certs · 50 testsAbout Microsoft Azure certifications
Microsoft's certifications run from Fundamentals through Associate and Expert, with Specialty certifications for narrower products. Fundamentals exams check that you know what the cloud and Azure services are and when you'd use them; they need no hands-on experience and never expire. Associate certifications are built around a job role, such as administrator or AI developer, and test what you would actually configure or build. Expert certifications sit on top of an associate one: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, for example, also requires the Azure Administrator Associate.
Associate, Expert and Specialty certifications last a year. Renewing is free: you pass a short, open-book online assessment on Microsoft Learn in the six months before the certification expires, and it is extended by another year.
Microsoft exams can include more than plain multiple choice: case studies, yes/no statement series, drag-and-drop and hot-area items all appear, and Microsoft doesn't publish an exact question count for most of them.
Which exam to start with
- New to the cloud or to Azure: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900). It is short and covers the terms the other exams assume, such as regions, resource groups, RBAC and Azure Policy.
- Running Azure day to day: Azure Administrator (AZ-104), the main hands-on associate exam.
- Designing solutions: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), taken after AZ-104, since the certification needs both.
- Building generative AI apps and agents: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer (AI-103), on Microsoft Foundry.
- Running machine learning and generative AI in production: Machine Learning Operations Engineer (AI-300), which covers MLOps on Azure Machine Learning and GenAIOps on Foundry.
How the practice questions here work
Each cert has practice tests of 10 questions that mix the exam's skill areas, with an explanation for every option and a link to the Microsoft Learn page behind it. Every question also has its own page. All five exams above have a full-length timed practice exam with answers hidden until you submit. The practice questions are multiple choice and multiple response, so they test the same knowledge as the real item types without copying their layout. Your scores are kept in your browser, with optional sign-in if you want them on another device.
These questions are original, written from Microsoft's public documentation and study guides. They are not real exam questions, and this site is not affiliated with Microsoft.
