Answers:
How the responsibilities split depends on the service. With a database on Amazon EC2, AWS looks after the hardware, but the customer installs and patches the operating system and the database software. Amazon RDS is a managed service: AWS also takes over OS installation and patching, database software installation and patching, backups, high availability and scaling. The customer keeps optimizing the application.
Option B stays with the customer. RDS hosts the database engine, but who can log in to it and what they can do with the data is the customer's decision. Option D is also the customer's job: security groups control which IP ranges or EC2 instances can reach a DB instance, and the customer writes those rules. Option E is named explicitly in the RDS shared responsibility model as the customer's work, because query performance depends on the database design, data and query patterns, which only the customer controls.
