CLF-C02 Practice Question 70: Third Party Software
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) · Test 7 · question 10 of 10
A company wants to deploy a commercial firewall product from an independent software vendor (ISV) on Amazon EC2. It wants to launch the software preconfigured with a few clicks, pay for it by the hour, and have the charges appear on its AWS bill instead of signing a separate contract with the vendor. Where should the company get the software?
Show answer and explanation
Answer:
AWS Marketplace is a curated digital catalog for finding, buying, deploying and managing third-party software, data and services. Products can be launched preconfigured, for example as Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) or SaaS offerings. Pricing options include free trials, hourly, monthly, annual and Bring Your Own License (BYOL). AWS handles billing and payment, so the charges appear on the AWS bill, and AWS Marketplace pays the seller.
Option A, the AWS Partner Network, is the program for companies that build on AWS or offer services around it, such as ISVs and system integrators. It is how vendors partner with AWS, not a store where customers buy software by the hour. Option C, AWS License Manager, helps you track and manage the software licenses you already have. It does not sell software. Option D, AWS Service Catalog, lets a company's own administrators publish a catalog of *approved* internal products for employees to deploy. It is not a marketplace of vendor software billed through AWS.
