CLF-C02 Practice Question 115: Credential Audit Report
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) · Test 12 · question 5 of 10
An external auditor asks a company for a downloadable list of every IAM user in its AWS account, showing whether each user has a password enabled, when their access keys were last rotated and used, and whether they have an MFA device active. What should the company provide?
Show answer and explanation
Answer:
An IAM credential report lists all users in the account and the status of their credentials, including passwords, access keys and MFA devices. It is a CSV file with columns such as password_enabled, access_key_1_last_rotated, access_key_1_last_used_date and mfa_active. AWS describes it as a tool for auditing and compliance that can be given to an external auditor. A new report can be generated at most once every four hours.
Option A records *API activity*, meaning who did what and when. It doesn't give a per-user summary of credential status. Option B reports resources shared outside your zone of trust, and unused access. It isn't a list of every user's password, key and MFA status. Option C records the configuration of AWS resources over time, which isn't the credential status report the auditor is asking for.
