AZ-900 Practice Question 41: SaaS Use Case
Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) · Test 5 · question 1 of 10
A 30-person accounting firm wants email, document collaboration, and expense tracking without owning the software or any servers, and accepts that it cannot change how the applications work. Which cloud service type is that, and what does the firm still manage?
Show answer and explanation
Answer:
With SaaS you are essentially renting a fully developed application. Email and messaging, productivity applications, and finance and expense tracking are the documented SaaS scenarios, all three of the firm's requirements. SaaS is the least flexible model but the easiest to get running and needs the least technical expertise, which suits a 30-person firm. Crucially, the customer's responsibility does not fall to zero: in SaaS you primarily manage your data, identity and access settings, and device access posture.
Option B describes PaaS accurately, but the firm is not deploying any code of its own. Option C describes IaaS accurately (maximum control, and you own the operating systems and installed software) which is precisely the burden the firm wants to avoid. Option D names the right service type and then reverses the split: in SaaS the provider handles infrastructure patching, application updates, and availability.
